The classic Five, Ten and Twenty cent cufflinks
The five cents or 斗令 'dao ling' as it was popularly known had been in circulation in Hong Kong since the 1860s until it was gradually phased out in the 1970s.
The ten cents or 壹毫 'yat ho' is the oldest coin denomination to still be in circulation. Available as 3 different styles of cufflinks:
- from 1955 to 1980 the coin measured 20.5mm in diameter and has the effigy of Elizabeth II on the front of the coin and the inscription 'Hong Kong Ten Cents' in Chinese and English on the back.
- from 1982 to 1992 the coin measured 17.55mm in diameter and has the effigy of Elizabeth II on the front of the coin and the inscription 'Hong Kong Ten Cents' in Chinese and English on the back.
- from 1993 to present the coin measures 16.55mm in diameter and has the Bauhinia blakeana flower on the front of the coin and the inscription 'Ten Cents' in Chinese and English on the back.
The twenty cents or 貳毫 'yee ho' with its distinctive scallop shape was introduced in 1975:
- from 1975 to 1993 the coin has the effigy of Elizabeth II on the front of the coin and the inscription 'Hong Kong Twenty Cents' in Chinese and English on the back.
- from 1993 to present the coin has the Bauhinia blakeana flower on the front of the coin and the inscription 'Twenty Cents' in Chinese and English on the back.
N.B. All coin cufflinks use the back of the coin as the face of the cufflinks.
